What do Brownies do? You’d be surprised!
Brownies is all about having fun, making lots of friends and trying something new.
The ‘Brownie Adventure’ is the programme through which Brownies explore ‘You, Community and World’ and allows the girls to challenge themselves to do their best, learn new skills, work with others and enjoy themselves. It includes what the girls decide they want to do – from games in an evening meeting, to cooking, abseiling and pack holidays. What Brownies do is only limited by their imagination!
Most units meet once a week during term time for about a
n hour and a half. In this time they may enjoy craft, games, badge work and laughter. There are often lots of other opportunities to meet up with their units or other Brownies – on trips during the weekend or in the school holidays. Visits to the royal wedding, jubilee celebrations, centenary maze, circus skills days, pantomimes and fun days for Blast Off! and Brownies in Wonderland are just some of the activities units have experienced in the last few years and we’re busy organising more events!
Brownie units also go on holiday – making use of the fabulous holiday sites in the county and surrounding areas, not forgetting MEGA2012 where Brownies joined with the other sections for a weekend away of adventurous activities!
There is lots more information and fun activities on the main Brownie website at www.girlguiding.org.uk/brownies
